Junior Front End Developer

Insured Connect is the creator of ‘NIC’, the life insurance industry’s most innovative in force data and policy service platform. We have established partnerships with most Life Insurance and Annuity Carriers, who provide in force data feeds to power the NIC Platform.

Reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation, a Junior Front End Developer works with internal and external resources to ensure that our product is developed and designed to the development standards and technology stack defined by company leadership. Senior Developers will provide mentorship to Intermediate and Junior Developers in order to assist them in developing their skills and growth within Insured Connect. 

Responsibilities & Duties

•Write, update, test, document, and maintain front end application code. •Collaborate with NIC software developers, business sponsors, and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain the NIC Platform in conjunction with the IC Software Development Life Cycle. •Collaborate with developers, business analysts and other team members in order to produce an integrated end-to-end solution. •Work within the frameworks of the IC Information Security Policy to ensure all code written is compliant with the IC Information Security documentation. •Participate in two regularly scheduled checkpoints per week with the full technical team. •Assess opportunities for application and process improvements, document, and share with team members and affected parties. •Support deployment of releases as needed. •Meet a minimum of once weekly with technical and business resources to discuss priorities and status of currently assigned work items. •Maintain technical competency in all skills required to execute the role of a front end developer.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: •BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical work experience. •Deep knowledge of AngularJS practices and commonly used modules. •Creating self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components. •Ensuring a clear dependency chain, in regard to the app logic as well as the file system. •Thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the platform, database, API, caching layer, proxies, and other web services used in the system. •Experience working with high volumes of data in relational and non-relational database environments. •Experience with all levels of operation available to the front-end, such as from creating XHRs in vanilla JS to using a custom wrapper around $resource. •Experience with building scalable applications, including building the infrastructure for serving the front-end app and assets. •Experience working with modularized code •Experience preparing and executing Unit Tests Preferred Qualifications: •Experience working in small team environments •Experience documenting technical solutions, interaction flows, and functional designs based on high-level business requirements •Experience identifying security vulnerabilities in UI design and implementation •Work experience across the entire technical landscape; development, database and infrastructure •Experience with Spring Frameworks •Experience working with data processing technologies such as Spark and Hadoop •Experience with microservices/API architecture •Experience with the AWS stack •Experience with NextJS/vueJS

NIC Data Engineer

As a NIC Data Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our data-driven initiatives. Your role will involve designing and building scalable data solutions that help us meet our business goals. You’ll dive into complex projects, working closely with multiple teams to develop and manage data pipelines, build data-driven applications, and streamline processes. Your contributions will be crucial in delivering meaningful data insights, crafting innovative Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions, ensuring our data services run smoothly, and deriving value from our growing data ecosystem. If you enjoy collaborating with others to drive business success, creating business value from data, and genuinely excited about all things data, this role is for you. 

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Design and build scalable data pipelines using AWS services like AWS Glue, S3, Step Functions, and Lambdas. Develop efficient ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading into data warehouses and lakes. Create and manage applications using Python, SQL, and various AWS technologies. Quickly develop innovative Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and services to address emerging needs. Provide Run/DevOps support and manage the ongoing operation of data services. Automate repetitive tasks and build reusable frameworks to improve efficiency. Collaborate with teams to design and develop data products that support marketing, onboarding, client engagement, and other business functions. Ensure our data services are reliable, maintainable, and seamlessly integrated with existing systems.

Qualifications

Required skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience Hands-on experience with AWS services including AWS Glue or EMR, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudFormation or CDK Strong skills in data engineering on AWS, with proficiency in Python Experience with batch job scheduling and managing data dependencies Knowledge of data processing tools like Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Airflow Experience using Jupyter Notebooks for ad-hoc data wrangling, data discovery, and data visualization Experience with DevOps automation tools for continuous integration, automated testing, monitoring and alerting Nice to have/Preferred skills and Experience (not required): Experience with streaming technologies like Kinesis, Kafka, or Flink Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or AWS Quicksight Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
